Where are you located?

We are located inside the City Square Mall at the corner of West 12th and Ash street. Please use the entrance inside the mall.

Where can I park? 

There is underground parking for the mall which can be accessed from Ash Street or Cambie Street. The studio can validate parking for up to 2 hours.  

What should I wear?

For a trial class, please come in suitable for dance, a fitted t-shirt and leggings or shorts will do, bring socks and ballet slippers if you have them. For registered students, please refer to the Uniform page for the detailed dress code.

Where can I buy the uniform?

Uniform leotards, tights, and dance shorts, are available for purchase at the studio office. We also carry ballet slippers and jazz shoes. Oudancewear can also be purchased though the registration portal by clicking on the Online Store on the right hand side.

Registration & Fees

Can I get some help selecting a class?

We would love help find the right class for you! Aside from the self guided class selector in our registration portal which can help narrow things down for you - please you phone us or emailing us at info@raincitydance.com

How long are the sessions or the season?

Our regular dance season runs from September 2023 to June 2024. With a shortened summer season from July 2024 to August 2024 for those who want to continue to dance through the summer.

 

Registration for the regular dance season ensures your spot for all 10 months (September to June). 

When and how do I make payments?

We divide tuition for the year into 3 instalments. The first is paid upon registration. The second instalment is due on November 1. The third instalment is due on March 1. We will always send you an invoice as a reminder, and payments can be made by cash or cheque in person or anytime by etransfer. 

I need to withdraw from classes, what is the process?

Withdrawal from classes (dropped classes) requires 14 days notice by email, the student may continue to attend class in that time period; refunds will be given for classes paid for which fall after the 14 day time period. Please refer to our Pricing page for details on refunds.

Attendance

How do I let you know my child will be absent from class?

You can always phone us or let us know by emailing us at info@raincitydance.com. We can pass along the message to your teacher. 

Can I do a make-up class?

Yes, you may make-up a missed class. Please remember it is the responsibility of the student to arrange make-up classes. Please speak to the office staff to make arrangements for a suitable make-up class. Missed lessons must be made up in the same term. We do not offer make up classes for statutory holidays, as these days are discounted from our tuition fees.

 

Exams, Competition & Performances 

 

Will my child be in the year end Recital?

The school will prepare one year-end recital usually held in June. Not all classes prepare recital choreography, some classes may be combined to perform a recital choreography at the discretion of the the teacher. Please note that students not regularly attending all classes at their level are not guaranteed participation in the year-end recital choreography.

Do I need to be enrolled in 2 classes a week for Royal Academy of Dance Classes?

Yes, students must take 2 classes a week at their level in order to prepare for the RAD Exams. Students who are unable to make that commitment should consider our Technique classes which only require one day a week. 

What is the date for the Royal Academy of Dance Exams?

Exam dates are set by the Academy and released in late winter. We will let you know as soon as we know!

I am an adult, can I take Royal Academy of Dance Exams?

There are certainly options for adult students to participate in exams. Reach out to the office to discuss your options.

What Competitions does RCD participate in?

Each year we select a few high calibre competitions to attend depending on our students interests. Currently we are preparing for Evolve, Summit, and Shine.
