OUR CLASSES

ADULT BEGINNER TAP - starting September 2022

Micro Ballet - 2 years and over.
A creative dance experience for building coordination and listening skills in our youngest dancers.

My 1st Ballet - 3 years and over.
A creative Introduction to beginner ballet steps using pretend play and imagery. Learning to move with awareness and developing sensitivity to music through movement.

Tiny - 4 years and over.
Fun beginner technique classes in Ballet and Jazz. Using pretend play and imagery to express emotions through movement. Building on the My 1st ballet movements with increased control and coordination. 

Stretch and conditioning. 7 years and over. 

A complementary class for all registered students over 7 years of age. The stretch class will be offered online (Zoom) and in studio at the same time. Students will learn stretching techniques to increase their flexibility as well as dance specific conditioning exercises to support their bodies in the rigours of dance training. 

Tech:

Technique classes in; Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Contemporary, Acro, Hip Hop. Ages are a guideline students will be placed at the discretion of the teacher. All levels of Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Contemporary, Acro and Hip Hop will perform in the yearend recital.

Ballet Technique  3 & 4 classes will prepare a recital choreography at the end of the year for those with regular attendance. Ballet Technique 1 & 2 may be combined with a similar level RAD class for the yearend recital. 

Tech 1 - Ages 6-8. Tech 2 - Ages 9-11. Tech 3 - Ages 12-14. Tech 4 - Ages 15+.

G1-G8 Ballet:
Royal Academy of Dance - Grade 1 to Grade 8 Ballet syllabus classes geared towards taking exams. These classes will prepare a recital choreography for the end of the year. Students should be attending two classes a week in order to prepare for the exam. Students may not all be ready to take the exam at the same time, the teacher will advise if modifications need to be made. Students must meet the age requirement in order to take the exam: G1 7 years+, G2 8 years+, G3 9 years+, G4 10 years+, G5 11 years+, G6-G8 12 Years+.

Intermediate Foundation (IF) Ballet:

Royal Academy of Dance - Intermediate Foundation level exam syllabus. Introduction to pointe work. Students may progress to pointe work at different times. Students must be 11 years and over. 2021-2022 available by private instruction only.

Recital choreography will be taught in the weekly ballet technique 3 for IF-AF exam classes or the  technique 4 class for AF-A2 exam classes.

Intermeidate (INT) Ballet:

Royal Academy of Dance - Intermediate level ballet and pointe work. 12 years and over. Students should be attending three classes a week in order to prepare for the exam. Students may not all be ready to take the exam at the same time, the teacher will advise if modifications need to be made.

Recital choreography will be taught in the weekly ballet technique 3 for IF-AF exam classes or the  technique 4 class for AF-A2 exam classes.

Advanced Foundation (AF) Ballet:

Royal Academy of Dance - Advanced Foundation level ballet and pointe work. 13 years and over. 2021-2022 available by private instruction only. Prerequisite INT ballet.

Recital choreography will be taught in the weekly ballet technique 3 for IF-AF exam classes or the  technique 4 class for AF-A2 exam classes.

Advanced 1 (A1) Ballet:

Royal Academy of Dance - Advanced 1 level ballet and pointe work. 14 years and over. Prerequisite INT ballet. Students should be attending three classes a week in order to prepare for the exam. Students may not all be ready to take the exam at the same time, the teacher will advise if modifications need to be made.

Recital choreography will be taught in the weekly ballet technique 3 for IF-AF exam classes or the  technique 4 class for AF-A2 exam classes.

Advanced 2 (A2) Ballet:

Royal Academy of Dance - Advanced 2 level ballet and pointe work. 15 years and over. This level is expected to require over 1 year of preparation. Prerequisite A1 ballet. Students

should be attending three classes a week in order to prepare for the exam. Students may not all be ready to take the exam at the same time, the teacher will advise if modifications need to be made.

Recital choreography will be taught in the weekly ballet technique 3 for IF-AF exam classes or the  technique 4 class for AF-A2 exam classes.

Repertoire 2,3,4:

Royal Academy of Dance Discovering Repertoire Syllabus. Optional exam preparation. Syllabus including barre, centre, development exercises and a classical repertoire piece. Flat shoes or en pointe. 12 years and over, great exam work for adult students with experience.

 

Open Repertoire:

Learn repertoire from 4 to 6 popular classical ballets. Flat shoes or en pointe. Non syllabus and no exams. 12 years and over.

Competition Classes:

Admittance by approval of the school. Students must be dedicated to working as a team and should make every effort not to miss classes. Participants must be available 9:00am-9:00pm for their competition events in the spring months. Participants must be taking technique classes in the genre of their competition as well as stretch and conditioning class. Additional fees associated.

Mini: 6-8 years   JR: 9-12 years.  SR: 12+ years
